There will be five Math Olympiad competitions throughout the 2016-2017 school year.  Competitions will be held at school in a regular classroom.  Students will work by themselves to solve five problems ranging in difficulty.  Students will be competing with each other as well as other math students in other schools around the United States.  The problems are thought- provoking and it will be a challenge to get them all correct.  Students will learn a lot about problem solving just by participating!

Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol is for 5th grade students only.  Students were chosen by application and by Mrs. Hatch as those that were best suited for this job. Safety Patrol Members are held at the highest standard in behavior and academics since they are setting the example for all of their peers and the younger students in the school. Parents also have to be an important part as they have to provide transportation in the mornings so Safety Patrol Members can be at school early to be at their post on time.  Safety Patrol members help in the hall way and out on the sidewalks to provide order and safety.  Another Safety Patrol job is to put out Tether balls for students to use during recess.  Safety Patrol members rotate positions and remain on the job for the entire school year.

Science Club

Cleveland Elementary School is proud to offer extracurricular science opportunities for 5th grade students.  Our first club meeting will be determined soon.    Students will take part in mini-lessons and experiments designed to ignite a deeper enjoyment and love for science.  We look forward to a great school year, including school-wide participation in the Family Night/Science Fair planned for later on in the school year.  More information about this event will be provided as more information becomes available.

Baughman
Stem Club

S.T.E.M Club is for third grade students who want to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics while creatively designing and building projects that incorporate these subjects.  We will meet on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:30 starting on October 25th and pick-up will occur at the front carpool loop.  There are multiple groups because of the number of students, so please refer to your acceptance letter as to which group you will be a part of and when that group starts.
